As the first course in STI's expanding education and certification program, Foundations of Tea: Level One will provide attendees with a strong understanding of the five basic tea types and the two traditional styles of orthodox tea production used to create them.

Building on the essential groundwork presented in Level One, Foundations of Tea: Level Two will examine CTC tea production and manufacturing, as well as post-manufacturing processes. Level Three is the STI Professional Series, ideal for anyone who requires more in depth knowledge of tea production, cupping protocol and flavor profile standards. All students must have successfully passed Levels One & Two before taking any Level Three classes.

Join us as we tour two of SCAA's exhibiting espresso machine manufacturers; Slayer Espresso & Synesso Espresso. Attendees will see the nuts and bolts of machine production and assembly all the way to the final sellable machine. After the manufacturer tours, we will swing by a coffeehouse and then get back to WSCC just in time for Opening Ceremonies.

Please join the IWCA to celebrate the 13th annual International Women's Coffee Alliance breakfast. All industry members are welcome and encouraged to attend and find out what the alliance does and how to get involved. Proceeds will be used to support quality of life and other projects for women in coffee-producing countries. The IWCA is a global peer network that advocates for women from seed to cup. IWCA provides access to resources and promotes a forum for connection.

In addition to being a large retail employer, Starbucks is also an important contributor to the US manufacturing sector. More than 800 people are employed at four large, industrial roasting plants in Washington State, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Nevada. Last year, these plants blended, roasted, packaged and shipped nearly 300 million pounds of coffee.

On the tour of the Kent Flexible Plant, you will be guided through Starbucks' 315k sq. ft. facility that through innovation and process optimization produces the best quality coffee, tea and soluble products (like its VIA Ready Brew) in the world.
